From 18-21 August, The Mount Without will host Street Dreams – a powerful
photography exhibition co-produced with six young people supported by Bristol based
youth homelessness charity 1625 Independent People.
Developed in collaboration with photographer Colin Moody, the exhibition shares the
creative journeys of young people aged 16–25 who have experienced homelessness or
life in care.
Through photography, they explore dreams, resilience and identity – offering raw,
moving perspectives from young voices too often overlooked. Many have had their
dreams interrupted or diverted by instability – yet out of these experiences have grown
new ambitions, often rooted in social justice, creativity and a desire to contribute to
their communities.
Some images are intentionally blurred, obscured, or pixelated to protect identities as
well as reflecting the uncertainty and unclear paths many young people face. This
approach also challenges viewers not to make assumptions based on appearances
alone. An accompanying audio piece brings their stories to life, with some of the young
person sharing their reflections, ambitions and experiences in their own words.
