Kate Edmunds – Artist – new paintings using oils and mixed media on paper and
canvas
"For me, the real excitement of landscape and portrait painting comes when I'm
creating an impression of what I see, rather than a more literal image. Working
mainly en plein air, and using swift, swirling brush stokes, marks and patterns, bright
colours and contrasts, I aim to create something the viewer can complete in their
own mind, perhaps with different interpretations on each viewing."
Kate Edmunds is an Emmy award winning designer and an accomplished painter,
having exhibited in many galleries including OXO Wharf and the Mall Galleries in
London, the Victoria Gallery in Bath, and the Royal West of England Academy
(RWA), Create Centre and Centre Space in Bristol. Kate studied Design at Kingston
University, and after several years as a TV graphic designer, founded her own
design company, Eggnogg, in 2009. Always creative, Kate has in the last few years
spent an increasing amount of time on her painting. This exhibition at the Mount
Without is the culmination of that recent work.
